Convert & send

The form only takes JPG. Your PNG is see-through. Convert, or will the hole go black?

The portal listed JPG. You have a PNG with a checkerboard. Drop it in and the hole often flattens onto black, or the page says PNG is not allowed. Decide two things: should this file become a JPG at all, and do you fill white before you drop the alpha.

The portal listed JPG only. You have a PNG with a checkerboard hole. You drop it in — and the hole often flattens onto black, or the page says PNG is not allowed. The picture is usually fine. JPG just cannot keep a hole.

If they only take JPG, convert. If the PNG is see-through, fill white first — a hole often goes black. HEIC is a different job. Stay local.

Should this PNG become a JPG?

Match the send, then decide. Do not convert ten times until you know what you are holding:

  • The form lists JPG / JPEG only, or rejects “PNG not supported” — convert.
  • The PNG is already opaque — a photo, a screenshot, a scan. Convert is just a container change.
  • The PNG is a cutout or logo with a checkerboard — fill white first, then convert. A hole is not a white background.
  • The file is still iPhone .heic — that is not this guide. Follow the HEIC to JPG walkthrough, then come back.
  • The desk wants pages they can flip, not a JPG — skip convert and stack with the merge guide.

ImageAwe Convert Format can batch. Many files in, many independent JPGs out — not one merged image. Keep each file at or under 20MB. Preview and export stay in the browser.

Will the transparent hole turn black?

JPG has no alpha. Something has to fill the hole:

  • A naive convert, or a portal that flattens the PNG itself, often paints that hole black.
  • On ImageAwe, Convert Format lays a white underlay before it drops alpha — so a simple PNG→JPG here does not go black.
  • If you still need to cut the subject or pick the fill yourself, do that in Cutout first — follow the fill-white walkthrough — then convert the white-backed file.
  • Do not send the see-through PNG “to be safe.” The desk asked for JPG. They will flatten it their way.

ImageAwe converts in the browser on this device. ID shots and listing cutouts stay local. There is no upload step.

Fill white if needed, then convert on this device

Open Convert Format and treat this as a format fix, not a repair:

  1. See-through PNG? Fill white first with the fill-white walkthrough — or drop the file here and let Convert Format lay white. One file or a set. Keep each image at or under 20MB. Still holding iPhone .heic? That is the HEIC path, not this one.
  2. Set the output to JPG. Batch is supported. Many PNGs in, many independent JPGs out. Default quality is enough for most forms.
  3. Convert and download. One file downloads directly; a set can zip. Send or upload the JPG, not the PNG with the hole.

JPG in hand — still blocked?

A successful convert only proves the format. The next error is usually a different rule:

  • The form still says “under 200KB” or “file too large” — follow the target-KB walkthrough on the JPG, not the see-through PNG. Or open Compress Image and set that number.
  • The portal wants one PDF, not a folder of JPGs — stack pages with the merge guide after you have JPGs.
  • The scan is still sideways — straighten first with the rotate walkthrough, then convert or merge.
  • Hair or a product still glued to the room — that is a cutout job, not a format job. Fill white with the white-background guide before you convert.

Wrap-up

They asked for JPG. A see-through PNG is a hole, and a hole often goes black. Fill white first, then convert locally — batch is fine, each file at or under 20MB. HEIC is another path. Stay local. Send the JPG you just made, not the PNG that bounced.

Extra

After you convert

Can I convert many PNGs to JPG at once?

Yes. Convert Format accepts a batch. Many files in, many independent JPGs out — not one merged image. Keep each file at or under 20MB, pick JPG, then download singles or a zip.

Will a transparent PNG turn black when I convert to JPG?

JPG cannot keep a hole. A naive convert, or a portal that flattens the PNG itself, often paints that hole black. Fill white first, then convert. On ImageAwe, Convert Format also lays a white underlay before it drops alpha — so a simple PNG→JPG here does not go black.

Does converting PNG upload my file?

No. Decode and export run in the browser on this device. ID shots and listing cutouts stay local. There is no “upload first, convert later” step.

The file is HEIC, not PNG — or the form still rejects the JPG?

HEIC is a different job — follow the HEIC to JPG walkthrough, then come back. If the JPG is already in hand and the page still caps KB, use target-size compress on the JPG, not the see-through PNG.
