Straighten & scans

The contract scan is sideways. Straighten first, or let them tilt?

You scanned the contract in landscape. You dropped it in the group. They have to tilt the phone to read a clause. The job is not a prettier crop — it is whether this file should leave sideways, and whether a whole folder can turn upright in one pass.

You scanned the contract in landscape. You dropped it in the group. They have to tilt the phone to read a clause. A sideways ID, a receipt shot on the desk — same job. Before you merge a PDF or compress, decide: straighten first, and can a whole folder turn upright in one pass?

If they have to tilt to read it, straighten the pixels first. Rotate can batch. Mirror flip is a different job. Do not wait for the PDF.

Should this file leave sideways?

Match the send, then decide. A contract or ID scan that is landscape or upside-down should leave upright. A group chat that makes people tilt their head is the same job. A wide table the desk asked to stay landscape can stay landscape. Still holding iPhone .heic? Convert first with the HEIC to JPG walkthrough, then come back. Rotate reads JPG / PNG / WebP / GIF.

ImageAwe Rotate & Mirror can batch. Many files in, many independent results out — not one merged image. Keep each file at or under 20MB. Preview and export stay in the browser.

Rotate to straighten, or flip to un-mirror?

Turning a page upright is not the same as mirroring a selfie:

  • 90° / 180° rotate — the contract is on its side or upside-down. This is the straighten job.
  • Fine angle — the desk edge is a few degrees off. Small correction, not a new orientation.
  • Horizontal / vertical flip — text or a face is mirrored. That is a different job. Do not flip a sideways scan hoping it stands up.

Straighten on this device, then send

Open Rotate & Mirror and treat the folder as one job:

  1. Drop JPG, PNG, WebP, or GIF — one file or a set. Keep each image at or under 20MB. Each photo rotates on its own: many files in, many independent results out. Still holding iPhone .heic? Convert first with the HEIC to JPG walkthrough, then come back.
  2. Click rotate left / right 90°, or 180°. Check the preview. Need a few degrees? Use fine-tune. Need un-mirror? Flip is a separate tap — do not mix it into a straighten batch.
  3. Download independent results. The local original is not overwritten. Preview and export stay in the browser.

ImageAwe rotates in the browser on this device. Contract scans and group shots stay local. There is no upload step.

Upright is done — what still blocks the send?

  • The desk wants one PDF of upright pages, not a folder — stack them with the merge guide after you straighten.
  • The portal still rejects the file for size — follow the target-KB walkthrough on the upright export, not the sideways original.
  • A chat string or ID number still in the scan — redact that screenshot after it stands up; paint is one file at a time.
  • The next public folder still needs a shop name — stamp it after you straighten, with the watermark walkthrough.

Wrap-up

They have to tilt because the file is still sideways. Straighten first, then PDF or compress. Rotate can batch. Each file at or under 20MB. Mirror flip is a different job. HEIC first. Stay local.

Extra

After you straighten

Can I straighten a whole folder of sideways scans at once?

Yes. Rotate & Mirror can batch. Many files in, many independent results out — not one merged collage. Keep each image at or under 20MB. Same orientation issue, one pass. Mixed angles? Split the batch.

Is mirror flip the same as rotate?

No. Rotate 90° or 180° stands a sideways or upside-down page up. Flip mirrors a selfie or reversed text. Do not flip a landscape contract hoping it stands upright.

Should I merge the PDF first, then rotate pages?

Straighten first. Rotate the scans, then stack them with the merge guide. Turning a finished PDF page by page is a second export you do not need.

Does rotating upload my files?

No. Rotate and flip run in the browser on this device. Contract scans and group shots stay local. There is no “upload first, straighten later” step.
